Description
Javanese antique ceremonial headdress of Silvered Metal, inlaid with opalescent facetted Glass cabochons. At the curved base of the headdress are twenty-four curved parallel Silvered Metal bars, each inlaid with lines of opalescent facetted Glass cabochons. Hanging from the base are fifteen Golden Metal chains. Above the back of base, is a crown of patterned Silvered Metal bars, inlaid with opalescent facetted Glass cabochons. Above the crown are seven Silvered Metal ‘flowers’, each inlaid with lines of opalescent facetted Glass cabochons, and a large opalescent facetted Glass cabochon at the centre. The ‘flowers’ are attached to the crown by long Golden Metal coiled bands. The inner diameter of the headdress is 6.5 inches, and the maximum height of the crown and ‘flowers’ at the back of the base of the headdress, is 6 inches.
