Description
An old, traditional tribal, large Kina Shell crescent shaped pendant, suspended from a wide plaited red dyed Fibre band. Southern Highlands, New Guinea. The Kina Shell is decorated with applied red pigment, and a pattern of pigment filled dots. The Fibre band is decorated with two cream coloured Cowrie Shells. The Kina Shell pendant is 9.2 inches in maximum width, and is 8 inches in drop length. The plaited Fibre band is 2.6 inches in width, and the total drop length of the necklace and pendant is 20 inches.
