Description
A New Guinea long necklace with a pendant of two large cream Shell donut discs, joined by cream braided Rope strands, decorated with two cream coloured Cowrie Shells. The pendant is suspended from a cream braided Rope band. At the top of the upper disc are twenty-five strands of cream braided Rope, decorated on the sides with four cream Cowrie Shells. On each side of the necklace are four fringes of black and cream painted Wood beads and cream coloured Cowrie Shells. The inner diameter of the upper Shell disc is 2.1 inches, the outer diameter is 4.4 inches, and the maximum depth is 0.7 inches. The inner diameter of the lower disc is 2.5 inches, the outer diameter is 5 inches, and the maximum depth, at the centre, is 0.6 inches. The drop length of the necklace is 19.4 inches.
