A Sepik River long ceremonial pendant necklace of beige braided Rope, decorated with cream Cowrie Shells, three large circular cream Shell patterned discs, small red and brown Seeds,and grey ‘Job’s Tears’ Seeds. New Guinea. At the base of the necklace is a large cream, wavy surface, circular ring. The three large Shell discs each have a border of small Cowrie Shells. On each side of the necklace are ten patterned looped strands of red, brown and grey Seeds. The three large Shell discs are, each, 3 inches in diameter, and the wavy Shell pendant is 4.5 inches in diameter. The inner diameter of the band of the necklace is 6 inches, and the outer diameter is 10 inches. The necklace is 10 inches in width, and has a drop length of 24 inches. The necklace is attached, at the top, by a beige braided Rope loop, and a cream Shell domed circular toggle.
