Description
Baule long tribal necklace of mixed shaped and sized Brass patterned flat beads. Burkina Faso, West Africa. The shapes of the beads include circular, rectangular, figure-of-eight, and oval, and nearly all the beads are pierced with holes as part of the pattern. The large circular beads are 2.2 inches in diameter, and are decorated with stylised birds, butterflies, spiders, animals and fishes. The smaller circular beads are 1.5 inches in diameter. The rectangular beads are 1.4 inches in width, and 1.7 inches in length, and are decorated with patterned bands and lines of holes. The necklace has a drop length of 20 inches, (40 inches in overall length).
