A Somba antique tribal ceremonial cap, made from a Gourd, decorated with lines of cream coloured Cowrie Shelss. At the top of the Gourd, within a metal circular band, are nine cream coloured Cowrie Shells, and, around the base of the Gourd, is a fringe of twenty strands, decorated with Cowrie Shells, and blue, brown, black and white Glass trade beads. At the base of each of the fringes, is a Cowrie Shell pendant. The inner diameter of the Gourd is 7.6 inches, and the height if the Gourd is 3 inches. The drop length of each strand of the fringe is, approximately, 8 inches.
