A New Guinea Headdress of Cassowary Feathers, Red Seeds, Cowrie Shells, And A Circular Shell Disc

Description

A New Guinea curved tribal headdress, decorated with black and white Cassowary Feathers, a band of red Seeds, a band of grey ‘Job’s Tears’ Seeds, and a band of cream coloured Cowrie Shells. At the centre of the headdress is a large white circular Shell disc and a border of black Cane woven strips, and small blue, red and brown Feathers.

The circular Shell disc is 2.6 inches in diameter. The inner diameter of the headdress is 8 inches, and the headdress is 12 inches in height.
